{chocolate truffles} ~ Colorado Springs children’s photographer

Last week, we had one snow day and two “late starts” because of the snow so it was kinda a crazy week at my house.  On our snow day, I decided to have the kids make truffles to keep them busy.  It worked like a charm!  They were all getting very into it and very messy.  By the time we were finished, the kitchen was trashed and the kids were a mess but everyone was happy so I’d say it was worth it.  The truffles turned out  pretty yummy too (although they look slightly sloppy but we’ll improve that next time).

Here’s the recipe in case you want to venture the kitchen with your kids too.  It’s a simple recipe that should keep your kiddos busy for a couple of hours!  (Save this for Christmas break when we are all going a little nutty with a full house ;0))

{EASY CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES}

What You Need!

2-1/2 pkg. (8 squares each) BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate (20 squares), divided

1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

decorations: chopped PLANTERS COCKTAIL Peanuts, multi-colored sprinkles

Make It!

MELT 8 chocolate squares. Beat cream cheese with mixer until creamy. Blend in melted chocolate. Refrigerate until firm.

SHAPE into 36 balls. Place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet.

MELT remaining chocolate. Use fork to dip truffles in chocolate; return to baking sheet. Decorate, then refrigerate 1 hour. (**I preferred dipping them in milk chocolate over the remaining semi-sweet squares)
