FAQ Friday

Brittany asks: I have a question for you. What kind of camera would you recommend for me? I want a DSLR, but I don’t need a totally professional, outrageously expensive machine. I just need one to take really great still shots of my artwork, but also for blogging pictures of my kids. They are often indoors with poor lighting and lots of movement. I’m hoping to find something for under $1000.

Well Brittany, I have a little secret for you. Rather than spending all your money on a fancy camera, I’d invest in a good piece of glass…a nice lens. THAT’S what really creates beautiful portraits. So I’d just purchase a basic DSLR camera body (Nikon Dwhatever or a Canon Rebel version) but not the crappy kit lens that comes with it. Then invest in a 50 mm 1.4 (or a 50 mm 1.8 if you are on a budget.) It will rock your world!
